Born on February 16, 1977, between Lake Geneva and the Jura, in a pastor's family, Raphaël started playing piano at age 9 and took to the stage at 15. At 16, he discovered jazz in a big band, then founded Pancake, a funk group featuring Hammond organs and vintage synthesizers.
In 2001, after more than 200 concerts, Pancake recorded its first album with the James Taylor 4tet. His encounter with Jérémie Kisling opened five years of collaboration and touring (Switzerland, France, Belgium, Germany, Québec).
From 2004 onwards, he produced albums for numerous artists — Pierre Lautomne (« Les choses premières »), Jérémie Kisling (« Le Ours »), Thierry Romanens, Robert Sandoz, Fabian Tharin… Several of these productions were recognised by the Grand Prix Charles Cros.
From 2005, he directed concerts and advised both established and emerging artists, alongside sound engineers Benoît Corboz and Xavier Dromard. From 2010 to 2013, he created short features for RTS (« C'est la jungle! »).
In 2012, he co-founded Le Pulse! with Sophie Noir. In 2019, he created the musical tale « Bang Bang Bang! » at the Théâtre Azimut, performed until 2022 and adapted as an audiobook. He teaches French at the University of Lausanne and regularly gives talks on stage presence and the creative process.
